After two wins from the opening league fixtures Takeley were at home again in the F.A. cup and looking to progress for the first time in seven seasons.

The pitch was looking pristine as always and was helped by some pre-match showers.  It was the home side who started on the front foot and forced an early corner that was cleared at the second attempt. Top scorer Stuart zanone then drove forward and was just wide with a good shot.  Mitch Das was then booked on 28 minutes for kicking the ball away disputing a Wivenhoe free kick after some attacking pressure.  After 37 minutes Takeley were awarded a free kick on the left angle of the penalty area, Stuart Zanone calmly stepped up who spotting to place a right foot shot low into the opposite corner to put the home side one nil up, his fourth of the season.

On 45 minutes Matt Gills sheer determination won a 50/50 outside his own penalty area, he then fed Wappett who having spotted Das' peeling run played a fantastic diagonal pass into his path, Das drove on, kept his cool and finished into the top right hand corner, two nil Takeley.  Half time 2-0. (Zanone and Das).

The second half started well for the home side and on 49 minutes following great work by zanone down the right skipper Jason Todd headed home his fine cross following a burst from midfield, it was a great finish from a bouncing ball, and zanone deserves great credit too for the assist, 3-0 Takeley.  Keeper Yates earnt his bonus a minute later when from the restart Wivenhoe broke to the edge of the area but the home keeper rushed forward to save with his feet.

Takeley then had a good spell when more goals should have been scored, Zanone shooting wide and also having shots saved by the visiting skipper, Todd should have done better with another header too.  Wivenhoe were given a boost on 57 minutes when following a strange decision for shirt pulling their number 11 coolly gave Yates no chance from the spot. His gave the visitors hope and they had a 10-minute spell of pressure forcing some corners, although they did not really look like scoring.  The remainder of the game was mainly Takeley going forward and the visiting keeper keeping the score down.

Final score-3-1 (Zanone, Das, Todd).- Takeley will now be away to the winners of Tower Hamlets or Broxbourne Borough on Saturday 19th August.
