BOWERS & PITSEA Reserves vs TAKELEY FC Reserves Result 1-3.
10th March 2012
Takeley Reserves travelled down the A127 to play Bowers & Pitsea Res in the ESF Reserve League hoping to build on last week’s good performance at Grays Athletic in the Cup. Takeley made 5 changes to the side from that game, due to work commitments and two players away on holiday, but that didn't deter Akeley, as they shot out the blocks, from the first minute and played with great confidence and duly took the lead on 10 min James Thomas made a great run down the left wing, beat two players before pulling the ball back for Chris HILLl to slot home 1-0.
From the restart Takeley continued to attack Bowers and recorded a second goal 5 mins later. A great ball in betwen the full back and centre half found TFC Captain Steve Robins. He pulled the ball back to the on-rushing Chris HILL to doubleTakeley’s lead 2-0.
Takeley started ease off and allowed Bowers to grow in confidence.  So unlucky for the hosts, as a shot from 40 yards nearly caught TFC keeper Glenn Armstrong out, the Bowers Captain James Falaise hit the post. The home side eventually got their just reward for the hard work when Takeley failed to clear a corner and the ball dropped to the edge of the box to James FALAISE who fired a hard low shot into the bottom corner.
Half Time Bowers & Pitsea Res 1, Takeley FC Res 2.
Takeley started the 2nd half much better than they had finished the first, dominating the early stages and playing good football, to create chances. The best fell to the impressive James Thomas who fired wide, Takeley continued to play well going forward and defending well when Bowers tried to hit them on the break, with impressive displays in defence from TFC centre half Taylor o'Toole and right back Joe Wise. The visitors got just desserts for the second half dominance, when a long ball over the top from TFC Captain Steve Robins located James Thomas, who rounded the keeper to take the lead to 3-1.
Takeley continued to push trying to get a fourth, with Terry Martin unlucky, as he was put through by Sanga Ismael, the B&P keeper Mitchell George made a great save from the one on one confrontation. Takeley couldn't get the fourth and settled for a well-deserved 3-1 win., Takeley player managerJohn Watters was pleased with Takeley football movement and skill and on another day they could have scored more goals,
MAN of the MATCH was the very impressive JAMES THOMAS, closely followed by right back Joe Wise who also had a great game
